Dr. Jan
Berger
Four factors contribute to patients' and providers' confidence in the integrated care team.

Jan Berger, M.D., M.J., is the chief medical officer for Silverlink Communications, Inc. Dr. Berger’s work focuses on the critical role of communications in healthcare delivery and the use of technology to support patients with education and information when making health decisions. She leads the company’s clinical and population health strategy, developing solutions and advising clients on how outreach programs can significantly improve health and reduce costs. Her areas of expertise include medication adherence, HEDIS improvement, consumer engagement, and behavior change.

Dr. Berger currently serves as chair of the Government Affairs Committee and as a member of the Executive Board for DMAA: The Care Continuum Alliance. She also is editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Pharmacy Benefit.

Dr. Berger was senior vice president and chief clinical officer of CVS Caremark. She also held senior-level clinical positions at a major children’s hospital and a regional managed care organization and was a practicing pediatrician for many years.

Throughout her career, Dr. Berger has been involved in numerous national committees on quality, medication appropriateness and safety, and population health with organizations including the National Committee on Quality Assurance, the National Quality Forum, and the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Medical Association, and many others. She also has served on the editorial review boards of several peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Berger has authored more than 100 published articles and recently co-authored the book, Leveraging Health: Improve health status and bend the trend on financial inflation with value-based designs. She is a frequent speaker at healthcare industry events.

Dr. Berger earned her medical degree in 1982 and a Master’s degree in health law in 1989, both from Loyola University. She is a Six Sigma Black Belt from the American Society of Quality. She also holds a certificate in business from the University of South Florida.
