ABOUT OUR PANELISTS:

Maureen Mangotich, M.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Maureen Mangotich joined McKesson Health Solutions in September 2004 as medical director, provider and community outreach.

In this role, she works closely with McKesson's local medical advisors to develop and grow relationships between the staff of McKesson's Medicaid disease management program and the physicians who treat beneficiaries.

Dr. Mangotich is a board certified internist with over 10 years of disease management experience. She was part of the Value Health Sciences project team that helped Pfizer Inc. establish its wholly owned DM subsidiary, Pfizer Health Solutions (PHS) in 1996. As part of the clinical team for PHS in 1996, she has provided clinical support for DM program design, DM software clinical content development, sales and implementation, and education and training. From 2001-2004 she served as Pfizer's medical director for the Florida First Program, a Pfizer-funded Medicaid fee for service disease management initiative in Florida.

Dr. Mangotich's managed care experience includes medical director positions in regional and national health plans with a focus on quality improvement program design and implementation -- (associate medical director for QI at Health Alliance Plan --1990-1992; corporate medical director for provider quality at Aetna Health Plans --1992-1993. She has been a physician surveyor for NCQA since 1991 and a member of NCQA's Review Oversight Committee since 1999.

Dr. Mangotich completed her internal medicine residency and Masters of Public Health at the University of California, Los Angeles. She received her medical degree from the University of Arizona, a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Arizona State University, and an associate degree in nursing from Phoenix College.

Peter Simpson

Peter Simpson is the president of Segmedica, Inc. Most of his career has been spent in the specialty chemical, pharmaceutical, medical device and biotechnology areas. Simpson’s experiences have included the general management of major businesses, CFO of several companies, strategic planning executive for businesses up to $2.5BN of revenue, as well as acquisitions and divestments, all within the precursor units of AstraZeneca. He is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Management Accountants.

Previously, Simpson was the director of marketing at life technologies Inc., a global supplier to the Biotechnology and Biopharmaceutical industry and vice president of consulting & market research at Lowe Healthcare, one of the world's largest medical advertising agencies.

Simpson’s client experience includes AstraZeneca, Schering Plough, Johnson & Johnson, TAP Pharmaceuticals, Boston Scientific, C R Bard, Pfizer, Merck and many more leading companies. He has also worked with HMOs, hospitals and physicians’ practices.

Simpson’s skills include strategic planning processes, branding issues, healthcare marketing and innovative market research. In over a decade of consulting with the healthcare industry, he has conducted numerous research projects of all types and is an experienced interviewer and facilitator, as well as being a frequent conference speaker and writer of articles.
