Description

In an era of the patient-centered medical home and accountable care organizations, there has been a sea change in what is required for physicians to accomplish during a patient visit. Physicians need to learn how to work smarter, not harder, says Dr. David Eitrheim, a family physician with Mayo Clinic Health System–Menomonie.

By moving to a physician-nurse team-based approach to care, Dr. Eitrheim has been able to increase his practice’s relative value units (RVUs), while at the same time increasing patient access to care and improving outcomes and quality measurement scores.

Listen to pre-conference comments from Dr. David Eitrheim.

During Redesigning the Physician Practice for Improved Efficiency and Increased Revenue, a 45-minute webinar on December 15, 2010, now available as a training DVD, via On Demand Web access or as a CD-ROM, Dr. Eitrheim shared how his practice made the transformation from a traditional practice to this team-based approach.

You will learn how to:

  • Improve practice efficiencies to make care more efficient;
  • Ensure that each part of the physician office visit is done by the most appropriate staff;
  • Generate additional practice income beyond physician visits;
  • Use pre-planning in chronic care visits as well as annual physicals and follow-up appointments; and
  • Position your organization for medical home and ACO initiatives with this approach.
