Dr. Ricardo Guggenheim

Ricardo Guggenheim, M.D., M.B.A., is currently vice president of care management services at McKesson Health Solutions. He leads the development of the care management vision and strategy for McKesson, and works with the individual business units within the Health Solutions Division on roadmaps to implement the strategy.

Dr. Guggenheim also works collaboratively across McKesson to leverage the assets – clinical and technology – of the corporation across business units. He is also involved in assessing acquisition and partnership opportunities that can be leveraged across the corporation.

Dr. Guggenheim has over 15 years of healthcare experience working with providers, health plans, government healthcare agencies and pharmaceutical organizations. He has worked in global management consulting where he led numerous medical management and operational transformations across a variety of healthcare organizations, and has worked with the financial industry assessing feasibility for a variety of healthcare acquisitions.

Dr. Guggenheim is a graduate of the University of Chicago School of Business, and received his medical degree from the University of Miami, where he underwent post graduate residency training in anesthesiology and neurological surgery. He remains on the voluntary medical faculty at the University of Miami School of Medicine.

S. Robin Barca

Medical residents now have a greater understanding of the impacts of the uninsured on the healthcare system.

S. Robin Barca, M.S., R.N., C.N.A.A., is currently senior vice president and chief operating officer at Baptist Health, an affiliate of the UAB Health System. She oversees the operations of three hospitals (Baptist Medical Center East, Baptist Medical Center South, and Prattville Baptist Hospital), as well as home health and hospice services, information technology, the Institute for Patient Safety and Medical Simulation, organizational development, pastoral care, cultural and care transformation, two medical residency programs, and most recently the CareAdvisor program.

Prior to coming to Baptist Health, Barca worked for Methodist Healthcare, a multi-hospital system headquartered in Memphis, Tenn., initially serving as executive vice president, chief operating officer for the Mississippi market until selling those facilities, and then as senior vice president/administrator at Methodist Healthcare Central Hospital, a 741-bed tertiary care facility in Memphis.

Before joining Methodist, Barca spent five years with the Wellmont Health System in Kingsport, Tenn. as vice president of clinical services at the system’s largest facility 540 beds.

Barca has significant expertise in operational and financial turnarounds, leadership development, and cultural transformation. In addition to progressive healthcare experience in clinical and hospital leadership over more than 25 years, she has also worked for two third-party payors and served as the chief operations leader for an urgent care center business.

Barca holds community and regional board positions with Leadership Montgomery, Women in Business Forum, Group Homes for Children, and the Blue Ridge Conference on Leadership. In 2001, she was selected as one of 50 Women Who Make A Difference by Memphis Woman Magazine.

Barca holds a Master of Science in Human Resource Development and Administration from Barry University, Fla., a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Studies with a concentration in Business Administration from University of Hawaii and an Associate of Arts in Nursing from University of Nevada.
