Strategies for Using Predictive Modeling in Pay-for-Performance Programs, a June 1, 2005 audio conference on CD-ROM, covers how successful pay-for-performance programs will require predictive modeling efforts.

Insurers and employers are incorporating predictive modeling into their pay-for-performance programs to reward physicians on a risk-adjusted basis and to set performance targets for future incentives.

During this 90-minute audio conference on CD-ROM, we cover how organizations are using predictive modeling results in pay-for-performance programs to ensure that providers are reimbursed equitably for high-risk populations.

Your expert panel of speakers, Dr. Stanley Hochberg, chief operating officer and medical director, MedVentive (formerly Provider Service Network) and Marilyn Kramer, president, DxCG®, cover how predictive modeling can improve pay-for-performance programs, including:

  • Forecasting healthcare utilization to set payment rates;
  • Assessing the efficiency of providers;
  • Making performance-based incentive payments equitable based on risk adjustments;
  • Reviewing how predictive modeling tools are evolving to meet the demands of pay-for-performance programs; and
  • Determining the appropriate role of risk adjustment in pay-for-performance programs.

You can "attend" this program right in your office and enjoy significant savings – no travel time or hassle; no hotel expenses. It’s so convenient! Invite your staff members to listen to this conference.

WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM THIS AUDIO CONFERENCE?

CEOs, presidents, CFOs, medical directors, quality improvement executives, disease management directors, managers and coordinators, health plan executives, business development and strategic planning directors.

ABOUT OUR PANELISTS:

Dr. Stanley Hochberg

Stanley Hochberg, MD, is chief operating officer and medical director at MedVentive (formerly Provider Services Network), a provider of web-based utilization management and quality improvement systems to provider groups, self-insured employers and insurers.

Prior to joining MedVentive, Dr. Hochberg was a vice president of product management at McKesson Corporation where he oversaw the design and implementation of medical management technology systems used nationally by large physician groups and managed care organizations. His technical expertise includes computerized case management systems, physician profiling technology, automated disease management support, quality improvement systems and artificial intelligence approaches to high-risk patient identification.

Dr. Hochberg has lectured and consulted nationally on healthcare technology, care management and quality improvement. He is an assistant clinical professor at Tufts University School of Medicine and a course director in their MD/MBA program. He is also on the faculty of the Tufts Managed Care Institute and the Tufts Managed Care Residency Program. He is a former chair of the Massachusetts Health Quality Partners Physicians' Council. In the 1990’s Dr. Hochberg worked in a variety of medical management roles at Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare including serving as their Massachusetts Medical Director.

Dr. Hochberg is a graduate of Brown University with a degree in European History and an Alpha Omega Alpha graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine. He is a board-certified family physician with 10 years of practice experience.

Marilyn Schlein Kramer

As DxCG’s president and chief executive, Marilyn Schlein Kramer oversees the strategic planning and execution of the company’s mission to promote fair and efficient healthcare.

Under her leadership, DxCG developed RxGroupsTM, an innovative methodology that uses pharmacy data to predict total medical costs. The German national health insurance program, which insures 90% of the country’s citizens, is implementing RxGroups as its payment system in 2007.

In May of 2004, DxCG was acquired by ISO, Inc., a leading supplier of data and analytics to the property and casualty insurance industry. Kramer now oversees operations of DxCG as a subsidiary of ISO, Inc. The DxCG user community now numbers more than 175, including approximately half of the Blue Cross Blue Shield plans in the nation.

Kramer speaks and writes frequently on applications of predictive modeling in clinical and financial management. Her article on using diagnosis-based models in small group underwriting appeared in the Society of Actuaries Health Section Newsletter.

Earlier in her career, Kramer was vice president of planning and product management at The Codman Research Group, Inc. She was an employee benefits consultant with Mercer, Inc. and a management consultant to hospitals with APM, Inc. She began her career as an administrator at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.

Kramer holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in Economics from Harvard University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
