Dr. Philip Bonaparte
It is too soon tell all of the long-term effects retail clinics and convenient care clinics will have on the medicaid population, but Dr. Philip M. Bonaparte, chief medical officer of Horizon NJ Health, sites the immediate impact these medical phenomenons are having on the industry.

Philip M. Bonaparte, M.D., is the chief medical officer of Horizon NJ Health; New Jersey’s largest managed healthcare company serving the publicly insured.

Dr. Bonaparte is responsible for Horizon NJ Health’s clinical programs, including pharmacy, utilization, case management, health management and education, quality improvement and clinical data analysis.

Before his role as chief medical officer for Horizon NJ Health, Dr. Bonaparte served as the senior vice president of medical affairs at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton in Hamilton, N.J. As the chief physician administrator for the hospital, he was responsible for the patient management department.

Dr. Bonaparte had also served as vice president of medical management for AmeriChoice Northeast in New York and New Jersey. He held the post of vice president of medical services for Liberty Health Plan and was in private practice in general internal medicine.

A well-respected advocate and spokesperson for the underserved and the publicly insured, Dr. Bonaparte seeks solutions for overcoming disparities in care. Acknowledged for his insight and understanding of healthcare issues, Dr. Bonaparte is a frequent guest for various media outlets. He is a seasoned presenter and keynote speaker at many national and state conferences.

Dr. Bonaparte received his medical degree from St. Georges University School of Medicine in St. Georges, Grenada. He completed residencies and was the class valedictorian at the Jersey City (N.J.) Medical Center in Jersey City and also at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J. Dr. Bonaparte is certified in internal medicine and he is licensed to practice medicine in New Jersey and New York.

Caryn Jacobi
McKesson Health Solutions' successful "catchment" team model places 24 teams around Illinois to enhance contact with Medicaid members, explains Caryn Jacobi, McKesson's associate V.P. of operations for that state.

Caryn Jacobi, RN, is an associate vice president of operations for Illinois, McKesson Health Solutions. She has 20 plus years of nursing experience including disease management and triage services with responsibilities in management, operations, quality assurance, education and training. She has been a McKesson employee for 11 years.

Jacobi is responsible for leading the care management operational team for the McKesson contract with the State of Illinois for Medicaid services. This includes personnel management, budget/financial/ROI management, and program management to ensure improved clinical outcomes and reduced healthcare costs.

McKesson Corporation is a healthcare services and information technology company dedicated to helping its customers deliver high-quality healthcare by reducing costs, streamlining processes and improving the quality and safety of patient care.

Prior to joining McKesson, Jacobi was on staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Her responsibilities included clinical patient care, quality assurance, and management in the Prentice Women’s Pavilion. Jacobi received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois.
