E-Prescribing tops the list of e-health applications that will see the greatest growth in 2004, according to executives participating in a survey conducted by the Managed Care Information Center. Some 39.1 percent of participants predict e-prescribing will be the most widely embraced e-health application this year.

"eRx: How Healthcare is Adopting the Technology to Reduce Prescribing Errors, Enhance Safety, and Save $$$," a CD-ROM of an audio conference that was held Thursday, July 15, 2004, is now available. During this executive-level audio conference, you'll learn the factors driving the adoption of e-prescribing, including the growth of PDA usage, the demand, patient safety and avoidance of medication errors, and the impact of eRx on the managed care and pharmaceutical industries.

The demand for e-prescribing "and the business case are both there," a hospital manager of Web communications told us.

The "infrastructure investments have already been made and the process of restructuring has started," a hospital director of new technology told us, setting the stage for rapid adoption of e-prescribing.

If you are involved in the administration of your organization's prescription drug management, order your copy now for what promises to be a valuable 90 minutes.

Managed care organizations, hospitals, physician organizations, pharmaceutical companies and pharmaceutical benefit management companies all have a stake in the future of e-prescribing.

"Patients, physicians and pharmacists all benefit because the system eliminates prescription errors related to illegible handwriting. The automatic drug-to-drug interaction check also increases patient safety by reducing potential negative interactions," said Darryl Cohen, former president of Medix Resources.

Learn how you and your organization can use e-prescribing to better reduce prescribing errors and enhance patient care by listening to our special audio conference "eRx: How Healthcare is Adopting the Technology to Reduce Prescribing Errors, Enhance Safety, and Save $$$"
